How Far Ahead to Book Facials, Peels and Injectables Before a Holiday Party or Wedding (Upper East Side Guide)
ROW 89 Team • October 19, 2026 • 5 min read

Every year it happens on the Upper East Side: the invitation for the building holiday party, the gala at the museum, or a winter wedding at a club on Park Avenue arrives, and suddenly the question is not what to book but when. Book a peel the day before and you may be flaking at dinner. Book Botox the week of and it may not have settled yet. This guide lays out how far ahead to schedule each treatment we offer at ROW 89 so everything looks its best on the night.
This article is general information, not medical advice. Your provider will advise you on what is appropriate for your skin and health history.
The short version
| Treatment | Book it this far ahead | Why |
|---|---|---|
| New Patient Consult for Botox, Dysport or filler | 3–4 weeks | Leaves time for treatment and a check-in |
| Botox or Dysport | About 2 weeks | Results build over roughly 10–14 days |
| Dermal or lip filler | 2+ weeks | Swelling and any bruising need time to settle |
| RF microneedling | 2+ weeks (a series: start 2–3 months out) | Redness and texture changes need recovery time |
| Chemical peel | 1–2 weeks | Any flaking finishes before the event |
| Facial | 3–5 days | Extraction redness calms, glow remains |
| Lash extensions or lash lift | 1–3 days | Fresh, full set for photos |
| Gel manicure | 1–2 days | No chips, no grow-out |
Injectables: start with the consult
If you are thinking about Botox, Dysport or filler for the first time, the first step at ROW 89 is a 45-minute New Patient Consult with Rocio Romero, PA-C ($150, credited toward a service or product purchase the same day). Book the consult three to four weeks before your event so there is room for treatment and, if needed, a follow-up.
Botox and Dysport: about two weeks
Wrinkle relaxers do not work overnight. Most people start to notice a change within several days, and the full effect usually shows at around two weeks. That makes two weeks before a party the sweet spot: early enough to see the result, close enough that it looks fresh. Avoid booking the same week as a big event if it is your first time.
Dermal and lip filler: two weeks or more
Swelling after filler is common for the first few days, and lips in particular can look fuller than the final result at first. Bruising, if it happens, can take a week or more to fade. Give yourself at least two weeks, and longer before a wedding or anything with close-up photos. Read more on our dermal and lip fillers page.
Skin treatments: work backward from the date
RF microneedling: start early
RF microneedling ($159, 60 minutes) is a series treatment. Skin is usually red for one to three days and can feel rough for a few more, while firmness and texture improve gradually over the following months. For a single session, allow at least two weeks before the event. If you are planning for a winter wedding, start a series two to three months ahead. Details are on our RF microneedling page.
Chemical peels: one to two weeks
The Express Peel ($89, 45 minutes) is light and often shows little visible peeling, so a week ahead is usually enough. The Glycolic Peel 50% ($109, 60 minutes) and the ASA Peel ($139, 60 minutes) can cause redness and light flaking for several days, so book those about two weeks out. Compare them on our chemical peels page or in our guide to why fall and winter are peel season.
Facials: three to five days
A facial a few days before the event gives you the glow without the risk of redness from extractions on the day. If your skin is congested, the Deep Pore Cleansing Facial ($119, 60 minutes) is a good choice four or five days out. If you mainly want hydration and radiance, the Ultra-Hydrating Glow Facial ($148, 80 minutes) can be booked closer, two or three days before. Not sure which one? Read which facial to book for your skin type.
Nails and lashes: the last few days
A color gel manicure ($49) one or two days before means no chips and no visible grow-out. For a classic holiday look, deep reds and burgundies are perennial favorites; for a wedding, many clients choose a sheer pink or a color gel French ($59). Lash extensions start at $119 for a natural set; book a new set or a touch-up one to three days before so they look full in photos. A lash lift ($139) also works well a few days ahead. See the nail menu and lash menu.
Planning around the season
Thanksgiving (November 26)
For Thanksgiving, think mid-November for injectables and the weekend before for peels. A facial on the Monday or Tuesday of Thanksgiving week and a manicure the day before is an easy plan. Remember that the week of Thanksgiving fills quickly on the Upper East Side.
Holiday party season (December)
Most office and building parties fall in the first three weeks of December. If you have several, schedule injectables in mid-to-late November so you are covered for the whole month, then add a facial and manicure before the biggest night.
New Year’s Eve
The week between Christmas and New Year’s is busy and some people travel. Book your New Year’s Eve facial, lashes and nails early in December to get the times you want.
Winter weddings
For a bride, groom or anyone in the wedding party, a longer runway helps: a consult three months out, a facial or peel series starting about two months ahead, injectables about a month before (with time for a touch-up), then a final facial within the last week and nails and lashes in the last two days. A trial run of anything new, well before the date, avoids surprises.
A few rules that apply to everything
- Do not try a new treatment for the first time right before an important event.
- Tell your provider about medications, supplements and recent treatments; some can affect bruising or sensitivity.
- Avoid tanning, harsh scrubs and new active skincare products the week before a peel or facial.
- Wear sunscreen every day, even in December.
Halloween comes first, of course. If you are planning a costume, see our Upper East Side Halloween beauty guide.
