What Botox and Dysport do

Botox® Cosmetic and Dysport® are prescription neurotoxins. A small amount is injected into specific facial muscles to temporarily relax the movement that creates expression lines, so lines that form when you frown, raise your brows or smile can look softer.

Both are FDA-approved for the temporary improvement of frown lines between the brows. Botox Cosmetic is also FDA-approved for forehead lines, crow’s feet and vertical neck bands. Rocio will explain which product and approach fits your goals.

Areas people commonly ask about

During your consultation, Rocio reviews your facial movement and discusses areas such as:

  • Frown lines between the brows (the “11s”)
  • Horizontal forehead lines
  • Crow’s feet at the outer corners of the eyes
  • Other areas, based on her assessment of whether treatment is appropriate

Results and timing

Many people begin to notice a change within several days, with the full effect usually visible after about two weeks. Results are temporary and typically last around three to four months, varying from person to person. If you have an event, mention the date when you book so Rocio can advise on timing.

Safety and side effects

Common effects include temporary redness, swelling, tenderness or bruising at injection sites, and sometimes headache. Less commonly, an eyelid or brow can droop temporarily. Rocio reviews your medical history, medications, pregnancy or breastfeeding status and prior treatments before recommending treatment, and gives you aftercare instructions. Contact the practice right away with any concern after treatment.
