RF microneedling questions
What is RF microneedling?
RF (radiofrequency) microneedling combines fine needles with radiofrequency energy. The needles create tiny channels in the skin and the RF energy warms the deeper layers, which prompts the skin’s own collagen and elastin repair response.
How is it different from regular microneedling?
Regular microneedling uses needles alone. RF microneedling adds controlled heat below the surface, so it is often chosen for firmness, texture and acne scarring rather than surface glow alone.
How many sessions will I need?
Many clients plan a series of about three sessions spaced four to six weeks apart, then maintenance. Your provider will suggest a plan after looking at your skin.
Is there downtime?
Expect redness and a warm, sunburn-like feeling for one to three days, and sometimes small marks or light flaking. Most people return to normal activities the next day; plan around events.
Who should not book?
Tell the team before booking if you are pregnant, have an active skin infection or cold sore, a pacemaker or metal implants in the area, keloid scarring, or recently used treatments that make the skin sensitive. Your provider will review this with you.
When will I see results?
Skin often looks smoother within a week or two once redness settles. Firmness and scar changes build more slowly, over two to three months, as new collagen forms. Results vary, and a series usually shows more change than a single session.
How often should I get RF microneedling after my first series?
After an initial series, many clients book a maintenance session every three to six months. Acne scarring may need a longer initial series. Space sessions at least four weeks apart so the skin can recover fully.
Can RF microneedling help acne scars?
It is often chosen for sunken (atrophic) acne scars, such as rolling and boxcar scars. Deep, narrow ice-pick scars and raised or keloid scars may need other approaches. Active breakouts should be under control first; see the acne program.
Is it suitable for darker skin tones?
Microneedling works below the surface rather than targeting pigment, so it is often considered for a wide range of skin tones. Your provider will still review your skin and history of dark marks before choosing settings.
Can I add RF microneedling to a facial?
Yes. RF microneedling for the face or neck can be added to a facial for $85 each, subject to provider approval and appointment time.
