ROW 89 offers chemical peels at our Upper East Side studio on the second floor of 219A East 89th Street, between Second and Third Avenues. We see clients from Yorkville, Carnegie Hill, Lenox Hill and the rest of the Upper East Side; the Q at 86th Street is about five minutes away.

A chemical peel uses an acid solution to loosen dull surface cells so newer skin shows through. It is often chosen for dullness, rough texture, uneven tone and clogged pores.

After your peel

  • Use a gentle cleanser and moisturizer, and wear sunscreen every day.
  • Let flaking skin come off on its own; do not pick or scrub.
  • Hold off on retinoids, acids and other exfoliants until your esthetician says it is fine.

Chemical peel questions

Which peel should I start with?

Most first-time clients start with the Express Peel or Glycolic Peel. If you are unsure, book the Express Peel and ask your esthetician about a plan.

How long is the downtime?

The Express Peel usually has little visible peeling. Glycolic and ASA peels can cause redness and light flaking for a few days. Avoid scheduling a stronger peel right before an event.

How many peels will I need?

Peels are often done as a series about two to four weeks apart. Your esthetician will suggest a schedule based on how your skin responds.

What should I avoid before a peel?

Skip retinoids, exfoliating acids, waxing and tanning for several days before your visit, and tell the team about sensitive skin, recent treatments or pregnancy.

Do you offer peels for acne?

Yes. The Clear Skin Acne Program includes three mandelic peels with LED light, alternating with acne facials, and starts with a free 15-minute consult with Rocio Romero PA-C.

Can I combine a peel with a facial?

Ask when you book. Your esthetician will tell you which combinations suit your skin on the same day.
